The Lleu Partnership are:
Maggie Doherty – Bangor Arts Initiative; Menna Thomas – CARN; Joy Brown – Y Heliwr, Nefyn; Cimera; Colin Diamond – Bloco Swn, Capoeira Mocambo; Rhys Mwyn; Rachel Rosen; Zoe Munn
Lleu is a co-creative, participatory outdoor arts project linking and celebrating the coastal communities of the Menai, Caernarfon Bay and the Llyn; rooted in “place” and exploring the collective identity and individual experiences of the diversity of people who live and work in the region.
Taking heroes, who they are, how they shape our stories and change our lives, as our starting theme. Lleu is led by a collective of local artists, who will share resources and create opportunities to light up Gwynedd.
Drudwen
Circus, physical theatre and music tell the twisting story of the enchantress Drudwen, and the twins she finds in the forest who are not all that they appear to be….
Drudwen is a dark modern fairy tale, a magical tale of transformation, choice and consequence. Written by Kate Jones, it weaves stunning aerial circus, hilarious physical comedy and captivating live music, with Welsh and English language. Drudwen is an action- packed feast for the senses.
Directed by Gwen Scott. Associate Director, Siwan Llynor. Performed by Iago Morgan Jones, Lauren Bracken, Claire Crook, Sian Owens and Musician/ Composer, Dan Lawrence
Drudwen was produced in partnership with Pontio, supported by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru and Arts Council of Wales.
Toured in 2019 to Pontio – Bangor, Y Ffwrnes – Llanelli, Riverfront – Newport, Wales Millenium Centre – Cardiff, Venue Cymru – Llandudno and Aberystwyth Art Centre
Other Projects
Anno’s Africa
Since 2017 we have been in partnership with Art’s Education charity Anno’s Africa to develop their projects in Mzuzu, Malawi and Nairobi, Kenya. Members of Cimera have been to Mzuzu twice to work with Malawian Artists and schools to train and help develop Anno’s Circus Malawi.
We offer the opportunity for circus artists to work and train together to create new works. For young and emerging artists to discover and develop new skills, work with established professionals and for volunteers to gain experience and contribute to their community.
We believe in teaching by helping one another, encouraging responsibility and mutual respect.
We hold regular circus skills training for adults and youth circus sessions at The Market Hall, Caernarfon.
